John Pontius was 1st mentioned in the "Annals of Buffalo Valley"  in 1776 as an....
Officer of Buffalo Township.  In 1778 he was assessed for 20 acres, 4 horses,.4 cows,.
 and 1 sheep.    Land owned by the Pontius's  was 1st secured by Rev. Captain Conrad
