On Janurary  13, 1957 he married Annabelle Janette Crain, in Traverse City.  They had four children Donald, Bradley, Todd and Stewart. Chase. Phillip was in the Civil Air Patrol, flew Cessna planes and even taught Donald how to fly.  Annabelle(Anne prefered) SSN 375-36-3810 had terminal cancer but died in auto accident. On a Nov. 2, 1972 she and Phillip were in a car that crashed head on in a blinding snow storm with a car where the driver was drunk. There was an oil can that flew from the back seat and struck her in the back of the head.  Anne is buried in Jackson Michigan.

Phillip next married Frances Rosedalh (Whitiker) in 1974 . They had a daughter Tammy, born in 1975. They divorced in 1978. Tammy is married to Rob and enrolled in the Salvation Army College in Chicago, ILL. They will be Salvation Army Officers in 2006. They have a son Nathan.

Phillip was very close to the Salvation Army for many years.

Phillip moved back to Traverse City, then Mecosta where he met Betty and they married in March of 2003.
