Born in 1816, Lehighton, Carbon Co., PA. Died 76 years later, Philadelphia. He was the 2nd child of Susanna and Jacob Sheckler, p. 242. Only the 1st child of Jacob Sheckler is shown with lines in this family page except for what you see here. Jacob had 7 more children by a 2nd marriage. ------ He married on 4 December 1845, Allentown, PA. Anna Elizabeth Kessler; the daughter of Jacob Kessler ( of French descent and native of NJ), who farmed the land which is now part of Allentown. Anna died in 1863. ------ Anna and Edward are buried Fairview Cemetery, W. Edward's grandfather, Frederick Schackler, came from Wurtemberg, Germany (map). With a Mr. App, Edward contracted to build the Lehigh Valley Railroad from Slatington to Lehigh Gap, a distance of 5 miles.
