.. Linn E. Sheckler, 75 County Supervisor Succumbs to Stroke Mr. Sheckler was born in Warsaw, Ind. Sept. 26, 1881. He came to Michigan when he was 18 years old and moved to Fennville 20 years ago.He had retired several years ago from the Allegan Count Highway Department where he had been employed for several years. He was a member of the Allegan County Board of Supervisors repre- senting Clyde Township, and also of the Fennville I.O.O.F. He worked part-time as Fennvile School bus driver. Surviving are the wife, Ethel, four sons, Merrill, of Allegan, Lester of Sparta, Linn E. Jr., of Grand Rapids and Earl Lickley of Watertown, Mass, three daughters, Mrs.William Gibbs of Sparta, Mrs. Irwin Hutchins of Fennville, and Mrs. Warren Tape of Caledonia;16 grandchildren and 23 great grand- children. Also surviving are a brother Bruce of Petosky and two sisters, Mrs.Ralph Chase of Traverse City, and Mrs. Paul Rupp of Gillead, Ohio. Funeral services were held at the Chappell Funeral Home, Sun. Jan. 27, at 2:00 p.m.with the Rev. Willis Hunting of the Fennville Methodist Church officiating. Pall bearers were:Clifford Smith, Lawrence Bale, Ernie Crane, John Weston, Wayne Woodby, and William Sexton. Burial was at Rowe Cemetery in Allegan County. |

Well Known Figure Skater Rites Friday .......Mr. Sheckler worked as a pressman at the former Petosky Evening News and as a carpenter and cabinet maker..He was a member of the Petosky Figure Skating Club and was well known in this area as a figure skater. He was active in the Winter Sports Carnival for many years and instructed skaters in the art of figure skating. He was a member of the First Christian Church......... ......Besides his wife, he is survived by three sister, Mrs. Hazel Chase of Indian River, Mary Weber of New Haven, IN and Edna of Galion,OH. The body is at the Stone Funeral Home where friends may.call... |

.. MRS. SHECKLER DIES SATURDAY ---------------- ....Born in Union township(Co), Pa., Feb.10,1864 (1863) she was united in marrage to George H. Sheckler in 1880 in Pennsylvania. Eight children were born to this.union. Surviving are four sons, Linn Sheckler of Fennville, Harry and Alvin Sheckler of Battle Creek, Bruce Sheckler of Petosky; three daughters, Mrs.Mary Webber of Belleview, OH, Mrs. Edna Rupe of Mt.Gilead OH and Mrs. Ralph Chase of this city. One daughter died in infancy, and Mr. Sheckler died in 1932.(1922)................... ....The body was taken to the Sampson Funeral Home where it will remain until Wednesday morning when the funeral party will leave for Colon, Mich., where services will be held and burial made in the family lot in Colon Cemetery. |
