BUCHANAN
- Edward A.
Buchanan, aged 82, of Byron Center, formerly of Caledonia,
passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side on Saturday,
July
31, 2010. Ed was the owner of Southwest Body Shop, and was a member of
American
Legion Post 154, RC Hathaway Masonic Lodge 387, the Saladin Shriners,
and a
lifetime member of Caledonia Eastern Stars.

He was preceded in
death by a long-time friend, Glenn
Plummer; and by Peaches, a special family cat for 21 years. Surviving
are his wife
of 65 years, Elaine; his daughters, Diane
(Johnny) Dutcher, Linda (Allan)
Jousma, Dawn (Larry) Stauffer, Sheila (Mike) Maxwell, Debra (Kevin)
McVoy; 13
grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, with a great-granddaughter due
to arrive
in November; five great-great grandchildren; sisters and brother,
Kathryn Reed,
Alan (Linda) Buchanan, Joyce (Doug)
Roosien; brothers-in-law, Fritz (Pam) Tape, Kurt (Barb) Tape, Ryan
(Tina) Tape;
several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including a long time
family friend,
June Plummer. The family expresses special thanks to Julie, Kelly, Deb,
and Cyndy, who so lovingly cared for Ed
in his home. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial
Service will be held 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 17, at Caledonia
United Methodist Church,
250 Vine St. with
Rev. James Hodge officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions may be given to Caledonia UMC. The family will greet
friends at
church prior to the service from 11:00 to 11:30 a.m. Condolences may be
left at Stroo Funeral Home.
