Well
Known figure Skater rites Friday. Services for Bruce Sheckler,
74
of Petosky, who died yesterday at the Lockwood-Macdonald Hospital,
where
he had been a patient for one day, will be Friday 2 P.M. at the Stone
Funeral
Home. Rev. Lowell MacFarlane, of the First Christian
Church,
will
officiate and internment will be in the Ohioville
Cemetery.
Bruce
was born in Lewisburg, PA November 26, 1893 and married Eunice May
Stone
in Petosky in 1915. They made their home there.
Mr. Sheckler worked
at
the Post Office and later as a pressman at the former Petosky Evening
News
and
was a carpenter and cabinet maker. He was a member of the Petosky
Figure
Skating
club and was well known in this area as a figure skater. He
was active
in
the Winter Sports Carnival for many years and instructed skaters in the
art
of figure skating. He was a member of the First Christian
Church.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Hazel Chase of
Indian
River, Mary Weber of New Haven, Ind. and Edna Rupe of Galion, Ohio. |
