                 The diary also has a lot of dialogue about school. 
                 That was because Conrad was a school teacher.

                      Now why would a school teacher be at the same place the
                      famous general was, and what was the Shook House?
              "Shook" = (1) a set of staves and headings for one hogshead, cask, or barrel
                                  (2)
a bundle of parts (as of boxes) ready to be put together
