Linn visited his brother, Merril, in the Army Airforce on Ohau, when in port.   Linn has told us that once, around the Philippines, the Japanese fired a.torpedo at the Adair from the beach and it went right under the Adair and came up to hit a ship on the opposite side.
    ..
He had duty on the beach sometimes for ship to shore communications, one time a pile of ammunition blew up near his post.

He was able to be home a short time in April/May of 1945.
