The Stars are for sons  Earl, Linn Jr. and Merriel.

This banner was purchased at the dime store for 30 cents.

A GOLD STAR was displayed for a son being killed.   No sons were killed in this family.

Linn and Ethel's son, Linn Jr. lived here until he went into the Navy in WWII.  That left a room
empty.  Their daughter Lois was in need of a place for her children to live while she worked in the
factory in Grand Rapids, making WWII parts for parachutes and airplanes.  So LaVerne and
Arleen kept their Grandpa and Grandma company.
